Through the garden gate: standard deciduous trees
Planting a tree is the answer
Standard deciduous trees are not your only option when it comes to trees to plant. We offer pleached, multi-stem, small or feathered trees that could be a great addition to your outdoor space. Do you want to plant a tree to add some shade, create some privacy, or offer local wildlife a spot to shield from the cold? Planting a tree is the answer! The most important thing to keep in mind when landscaping your garden is creating a safe and beautiful space to enjoy. Trees are perfect for this, providing shade in the summer and protection in the winter. It doesn’t matter where you live; trees bring a tranquil atmosphere and a scenic view from your home.
Our favourite mature deciduous trees
Do you wonder what type of deciduous tree would be perfect for your garden project? To give you an idea, we would like to highlight a few of our favourite standard trees. Are you interested in our other trees, shrubs or plants? Plan your visit to our nursery to see all the beauty that we offer!
- Fagus sylvatica: This green beech is nice and voluptuous, and gives your garden a great spark of colour. It's a relatively fast grower that prefers full sun to shade and well-drained soil. The Fagus is a spreading tree with oval, wavy-edged and glossy green leaves. In autumn its leaves turn yellow, then copper and some remain attached throughout the winter. Ideal as hedging if clipped.
- Ginkgo biloba: This large tree stands out because of its lobed, green and fan-shaped leaves. This slow-growing tree prefers a position in full sun and may reach up to 25 meters in time. Did you know its leaves are commonly included in supplements and medication for, for example, memory problems?
- Tamarix tetrandra: Looking for a rich flowering and decorative ornamental shrub (or bulbous tree)? This tree may be it! It has light pink flowers in mid to late spring, with tiny pinnate green leaves. The Tamarix usually grows up to 4 meters high.
